Today I'm excited to welcome author Shealy James to the blog. She's sharing her writing quirks and processes with us, and telling us a little about her new book Find Me In Manhattan.
What do you write?
New Adult and Contemporary Romance.
Tell us about your book in 3 sentences.
Sarah Grant finds herself in need of a hero when her boyfriend threatens her safety. When her hero appears in the form of a sexy ex-soldier with a truckload of issues, she can’t help but be intrigued. Sparks fly between the pair as they work to keep Sarah out of trouble, and they realize they may have found the elusive one in a city of millions.
Why do you write? Give us three reasons.
1. My imagination would drive me crazy if it didn’t have an outlet.
2. To find the happy ending we don’t always find in real life.
3. Because the story in my head hasn’t been told yet.

What’s your next big writing challenge?
I am considering writing a romantic suspense or a suspenseful romance. In my head it is still a jumble of ideas, but I’m excited to see what happens.
What advice would you give to a brand new writer?
Revise. Take a long break. Revise some more. Some of the best changes to my stories happen after a long break from my manuscript.
